Resume Writing

Scene 1

After graduation day, everyone is very busy to seek for a job. Dreaming to be an officer, a researcher, or a lecturer. Each of them had registered themselves in a job employment company, for example JobStreet,Jobseek. I don't know the correct term -_-" . They start to make a beautiful resume, stay online to look for a job, sending the resume here and there with a hope to get a job and earn money *to pay the ptptn loan, of course*

Scene 2
They wait and wait but no answer is posted through mail . And they're wondering what's wrong. Everything seems perfect. They had attained the conditions required. Mereka sangat susah hati.

Writing an essay is hard. huhu~ okay2, back to the main point. Most of us don't really know what is wrong with our resume and the job application we made. That's including me. Madam Liza and Madam Farah's class on the peaceful Friday had opened my eyes the importance of having a neat and ummph resume. ^^

Resume apparently represents yourself. The personality of yours is written and actualized through a printed and a piece of paper of your resume. For that reason, you need to sit and take a considerable time to write your resume. It must be neat, simple, and sexy. You're not exposing too much but still, you can look gorgeous and appealing. If it is too crowded, people will find it 'selekeh' and no one want to look at it. Some of us will think that, if we list everything; the qualification, the achievement, etc, etc till it becomes a bibliography book, you will surely get a job. Actually, the maximum page you need is 3 because you only have 45 seconds to impress the company through your resume. Sounds mean, but it is reality. Be as neat as possible; make sure that it aligns perfectly, the spacing, the font. Be unique too if you can. And never lie about your past in the resume. Liar tends to forget what he said, believe me, and you will be caught red-handedly.

Those tips are very beneficial for me. I am bad in resume writing. Had been proved with no job offer letter. *sigh* And, to finish the day, we needed to send our resume to Madam Liza based on what we'd learned. Yeah!!Another day with a new knowledge. I'm thankful, alhamdulillah :)

Pretty awesome resume. Very creative

"Kedai kopi dan karipap Mak Kiah"

Posted by NorLiyanaBardi on 11:43 PM comments (0)

First of all, i would like to apologize to any Mak Kiah who owned warung kopi or selling karipap. It's not my intention to underestimate your job (they earn more $$ than government officer per month, just saying ^^ ) .

Few days ago, my sister called me, telling about the meeting she had at her new school. She claimed that the situation was very different to be compared to her old school. She said, " Meeting mula pukul 8, tapi kebanyakannya pukul 9 pun masih duduk berkumpul sembang sambil makan di kantin. Lebih mengharukan, bila ada yang bagi penerangan mengenai program dan benda-benda penting, semua pakat bercakap." I think, that is common. Without food, meeting can't start (to be precise, without karipap :D ). Without chatting, the objective of the meeting will not attain. Sad to see, sad to hear. Time is too precious to be wasted. Why prolong the meeting hour and drag the time from 2 hours to a whole day meeting?

So, my fellow readers, the keyword of today's post is MEETING. Yeah, meeting.Meeting and karipap with kopi is like 'irama dan lagu', can't be separated X) I learned about how to conduct an effective meeting from Assoc. Prof Mohd Khir. Before this, i thought meeting is simple. Gather the member of the club, jot down the important information, etc, etc. But, it's wrong. There are laws; how the input during the meeting can be used as an evidence in court, to challenge the respective company. I was taken aback to hear this. So, never think meeting is not important T_T

These are the infos I got during the class:
  • There are two types of meeting: Public and Private.
  • Meeting is valid when: is properly convened, constituted, and held.
  • Chairman's duties is to ensure the meeting progress smoothly, not dominate the meeting eg;  refuse to accept others' suggestion.
  • A good meeting is a meeting that satisfy these elements: empowering, boost up leadership & work skills, effective communication, and increase the moral among workers.
  • The preparation, the motion, and the adjourment. These things are important. Important.
After this, no meeting should be held in sloppy manner as it was held before *biasanyala* Increase the productivity, reduce the time and sources especially karipap Makcik Kiah, don't sue me if this statement resulting to the loss of customers -__-". We can do it!! We can change for a better future. The information is new for me. But, it is knowledge which I should collect and store in my brain-drive.

The Art of Public Speaking

Posted by NorLiyanaBardi on 11:57 PM comments (0)

Public speaking is speaking in public. Okay, that's the lamest and the most unintellectual explanation I'd ever heard. Public speaking is the process of speaking to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain the listeners. (source:wikipedia).

I was a public speaker during my secondary school and I'd been trained to speak in public since i was in primary school. But, I stopped involving in those activities during my matriculation and it continued till my university day due to a reason 'i want to focus on my study.' It was the stupidest excuse, i know, but that's the mistake I'd made. Due to that, i have difficulty in speaking and representing myself well in front of people for these past years.

Luckily (yes, i feel so lucky), to have a Public Speaking class conducted by Mr. Hisham and Miss Hanani. Both are energetic and confidence. There's no time to feel sleepy and boring, every seconds was awesome *exaggerating is allowed here because it's true.keke* First, i felt amazed with Mr Hisham's ability to make a hypothesis about others' personality just by having short conversation with the participants. Second, the class itself is very beneficial to me. It taught me how to be a good public speaker. These are the tips i got from the class:

  • Be confident and choose interesting and familiar subjects to reduce the nervousness.
  • Use appropriate words, volume, and emphasize on the words that need to be emphasized. Avoid using monotonous tone because it will make your audience feel boring.
  • Speak in an acceptable rate, not too slow and not too fast with a good pronunciation *so you need to read, listen to the materials that will help you, and practice.*
  • Never afraid to speak and make mistake. Mistake will happen at first, but you will learn and do things the right way.
  • Practice, practice,practice,and practice ^^
Practice makes perfect. So, we had a few enjoyable activities to begin with. We needed to advertise the things given with our own way. Then, Miss Nani asked us to prepare a text to be presented next Tuesday. HoWliee~~ I'll sweating like crazy and shaking. Haha~ Fighto-Oh!!!
Shake till you break and dance,no?XD

How To Reach Audience Through Blogging

Posted by NorLiyanaBardi on 12:21 AM comments (0)

Blog has become one of the most stylish and easy ways to build an online bridge between you, the blogger and the audience, either for the business or personal purposes. However, it may not be as easy as it sounds. Most of the bloggers failed to deliver the message to the readers, thus, every information shared in blogs is useless and will give less impact to the readers.

There are several tips and tricks to make an outstanding blog which will increase your blog's traffic. Firstly, you must have a heroic title, so it will captivate the readers' attention. But remember, the contents should be great too.Write as simple and as precise as you can. You don't expect people to read your novel-like blog; devoting their whole night to read the blog and getting eyebags the next day.

The structure, the color of the blog should be appropriate and balance, and if possible, pretty and mesmerizing. Some of us hate to go to a messy store, and this also applies to the blog readers. Arrange everything in order and make it easy for the readers. For the layout and color, it shouldn't be too striking or too boring because colors and layout will give a hint of what type of blogger you are. Putting too much widgets sometimes annoy your readers as it needs more time to load.

Make your blog interactive too. Ask for readers' participation and wait for their anticipation. For example, construct a fun question that will make your readers wondering about the answer, play with the words, put games (everyone loves online games) or videos (more senses are used) or music (sing, listen, sing). Lastly, never give up. Write and write even though no one is commenting. Blogging needs a lot of practices, a bit of talent and a mere of luck.

Everything is..new

Posted by NorLiyanaBardi on 10:02 PM comments (0)

New year, new environment, new experience, new knowledge to be learnt, new place, new friends. Everything is kind of new to me for this 1432H year. I feel blessed to be given these opportunities because not all are chosen to be in my position. I am lucky enough to breathe in this beautiful and peaceful country. So thankful to the Greatest creator of this universe. When most of my peers in other countries are struggling to survive, I'm here sitting and having a nice cup of milo with biscuits, writing this post.

But, human is imperfect. Taken from an arabic word, نسى (in Bahasa, human is 'manusia') which means forget, human is a forgetful creature. I always forget to be thankful for what i have, I frequently complain on things that burdened me. So, ask for forgiveness from Him, dear Miss NorLiyana Bardi :)

To make a good start for this new year, I, somehow need to change here and there. It is better to be late than doing nothing. Yeah, yeah, i'm pretty positive with myself. I must.haha~

If we want to succeed, we need to take some risk and work for it.
Believe in ourselves and the capability we possessed, and always pray to Him.

Writing a new post when you're not in the mood is hella difficult. I know it's boring, but please, bear with me.
